紅葉の美しい秋の谷間に人工霧を発生させ、音や光とともに風景を演奏する秋まつり。米国のアーティスト・ビル・ヴィオラとのコラボレーション。ヴィオラは、現地で採集した音を素材に、岩や山と響き合う立体電子音楽を作曲し、８チャンネルのスピーカーを通してライブ演奏。上流にできたダムのために石の河原と化した男鹿川が霧とともに息吹きはじめる。地元の川治太鼓も加わり、照明によって霧景色は幻想的なシルエットから、時には悪魔的に、時には瞑想的な精神風景へと変幻。レーザー光線が閉ざされた霧の谷間と天空をコスミックに結び合い、霧と音と光の情景は多次元の雄大な交響詩を作り上げていく。

An autumn festival celebrating the scenic beauty of its rich autumn colors. The Fog moistened the dry riverbed which has been exposed since a dam was built upstream. The artist Bill Viola composed an original music using electonically processed local sounds and performed live through 8-channel speakers.
Local drummers joined the performance. The lights focused on, shilhuetted and diffused the drummers, rocks, and landscape in fog. Laser beams connected the valley to the sky, placing the locally bound fog in a cosmic scale.
